SUCCEEDING IN SALES: 3 powerful tips for sales people

February 19, 2024 Shalewa Kasali No comments yet

A commercial leader, Oluwole Dada has delivered exceptional results in FMCG, electronic manufacturing, and telecom industries. We asked him for an essential guide to mastering the art of the deal, Here is what he had to say:

Build Relationships: Relationship building is the bedrock of any meaningful sales activity. If you are not good at building relationships, please don’t come to sales. You must learn how to open conversations with people, connect with them, and nurture relationships with them. Relationship building is the same across all societies and industries. I have people whose businesses I managed over 12 years ago, and they still reach out to me for counsel 12 years after. One of them still called me some days ago. You must learn to build sustainable and lasting relationships if you want to succeed as a salesman.

Offer value: Every individual has some traces of selfishness. What this means is that everyone is looking out for himself in any transaction. If you want to succeed as a salesman, you must bring something to the table. You must show your prospect what is of value to him. Nobody wants to be in a transaction or relationship where there is nothing in it for him. The question every prospect is asking is: What is in it for me? Until you are able to show your buyer or prospect what he is going to derive or benefit from the product you are offering, you are most likely not to make headway as a salesman.

Be Honest: I know there are some people who may take exception to this, but from my personal experience, prospects and customers are drawn towards those they regard as telling them the truth. One of the things that has helped me as a salesman is the trust my clients have in me and my statements. When your customers trust you, you can tell them you need $1m to meet your target and they will be ready to put it down for you. However, the pertinent question is: have you gained their trust over time? Such moves will only be made when you have consistently demonstrated honesty.

By following these tips and tailoring them to your specific niche and industry you will Unleash your inner sales rockstar and turn your career in sales around.

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask any further questions you have about specific sales, sales strategies or Sales tech.
